1966 Plymouth Sport Fury convertible 383 Super Commando
This car needs a total restoration – read everything here BEFORE you decide to buy!
Some needs include: all driver side glass and associated inner door hardware. Needs rear window in replaced convertible top, front windshield has a star crack that may or may not be able to be repaired.
New tires are needed all around (the current ones are dry rotted). Wheel cylinders need serviced or replaced for brakes to function properly perhaps even a master cylinder as well. Carb needs replaced or rebuilt, trans needs a new main seal as it leaks trans fluid when not in use.
The interior is there, but will need a full restoration as well. The convertible top is missing one of the clips to hold it down to the front window frame, but I am working on picking one up soon so check back with me on that one. Even though someone added some toggle switches to make all electrical items work, the wiring would need to be looked over to insure safety.
Older amateurish rear quarter repair for rust work was done on this car somewhere along the line in its’ past. The repairs themselves look to be holding up fairly well, but the quality of the repairs are poor and would need to be redone to be show worthy. More rust areas are bubbling out around the rear wheel wells, but at a very slow pace. In order for it to be a show worthy car, the quarters would eventually need additional attention and the entire body of the car would need dings and warbles looked after. The floorboards are fairly solid but they too could use some attention as they have small rust holes in them. Bumpers need rechromed and straightened, trunk lock missing.
Some good stuff - New shocks are on the car as well as a good battery. The power top works and is in pretty good overall condition with one small one inch long rip (see picture). The car looks pretty decent but the paint dulls if not waxed or cleaned fairly regularly. Most everything is here and ready for your restoration except for the items I mentioned above. The car runs but runs ROUGH because I believe the carb needs rebuilt (carb rebuild kit comes with the car). The trans shifts when topped off with fluid (but it leaks out after sitting a while).
Some extra parts that go with this auction are nice original AM radio, nice used dash trim, gauges, headlight switches and a nice glove box door. Two additional Mopar rally wheels will be included. Those wheels would need cleaned and painted to match the back wheels. A carb rebuild kit is included for this carb. It has been opened, but looks to be pretty much all there
Appointments to view the car - This car was originally gold (door jambs color) in color and was from Indiana, now located in central PA. The car is stored inside my home garage. Appointment requests to see the car are welcomed and encouraged.
Again this car needs a total restoration and needs brakes reworked so it cannot be driven! Tow vehicles or trailers with winches are the only way you will be able to transport this car! It does start and drive but stopping is pretty tricky!
